Handel's Conquering Heroes

The opera’s by G.F. Handel are a perfect blend of English and Italian Baroque. Its heroes are triumphant, yet with a tragic flaw. In Ridotto: Sinfonias, arias, and a narrations, performed by Mary-Elizabeth O’Neill, Mezzo-Soprano, with the Ridotto Baroque ensemble.

Dawn Upshaw, internationally renowned soprano and Bard Graduate Vocal Arts Program Artistic Director, will perform with pianist and Associate Director Kayo Iwama, the singers of the program, and the Bard Conservatory Collaborative Piano Fellows. The concert will feature premieres by various composers and will include some newly composed songs set to the poems of Emily Dickinson.

Graduate Vocal Arts Program students present an operatic double bill of a one-act opera by Oliver Knussen based on Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book, Higglety Pigglety Pop!, and a one-act adaptation of Mozart's spirited fable about a young nobleman's search for an imprisoned princess.
